Export
Geometrical information can be exported by way of the System Menu
. It can be exported as a:
- CAD file,
- Image (bitmap graphic),
- Block layout list (table) or as a
- Pack and Go file (vtlx)
Export as CAD
A typical case of application for this export type is the transfer of the layout to the fine planning. To this end, the export can be limited to the visible layers. The geometrical information can be exported either to the DXF
or DWG
format. To this end, enable the appropriate file filter in the dialog.
Procedure
Proceed as follows to export all visible layers in the DXF format.
- Call the
Export
command in theSystem Menu
. - In the file dialog, select the file type
Visible Layers (*.dxf)
. - Specify folder and file name.
- Click on
Save
to confirm. A progress bar is displayed at the bottom right corner of the window and a message appears to confirm that the export was successful.
Export as an image
A typical case of application for this export type is the further use of the layout in presentations. Please note that bitmap graphics are not provided with scale.
Procedure
- Call the
Export
command in theSystem Menu
. - In the file dialog, select the file type
2D Layout as Bitmap Graphics
. - Specify folders and file names.
- Click on
Save
to confirm.
Export block layout information
A typical case of application for this type of export is the saving of planning information in a non-graphical format. An entry is exported for each object of the type area
to an Excel workbook that comprises the designation, position, dimensions, layer, color and a few detailed information.
Procedure
- Call the
Export
command in theSystem Menu
. - In the file dialog, select the file type
Block Layout Table
. - Specify folder and file name.
- Click on
Save
to confirm.
Pack and Go
A typical use case for this export type is to save the complete layout including all models referenced in it for the 3D view. This is particularly suitable if you want to make the layout available to other people who do not have access to your or the shared model library.
For example, you are working on a layout and would like to pass on the current status to your project partner, customer or client. They would like to open the layout with visTABLE® and edit it further or use the viewer. If this project partner does not have access to your model library, Pack and Go helps to pass on all data for the layout together with the vtlx. Pack and Go ensures that all models used in the layout are bundled with the layout.
Procedure
- Call the
Export
command in theSystem Menu
. - In the file dialog, select the file type
Pack and Go (*.vtlx)
. - Specify folders and file name.
- Click on
Save
to confirm.
note
Layouts saved as Pack and Go are usually much more extensive than normal layout files. Pack and Go bundles all referenced models and packs them into the vtlx file. Depending on the number and size of the models used in the layout, a Pack and Go vtlx file can therefore become significantly larger than a normally saved layout. Opening a Pack and Go vtlx file can therefore take longer. The larger file size also makes sharing a Pack and Go vtlx file more time-consuming.
Therefore, only export layouts as Pack and Go if you are not working with a shared model library or if you want to ensure that the recipient of the layout receives all referenced models. Within an organization, we recommend using a shared model library.
Pack and Go files get the suffix (Pack and Go) in the file name, which makes them easier to recognize.
