Technical notes
Storage locations for model libraries
To be able to create and fill the standard User Library, visTABLE® users must exercise their read and write permissions in the local directory C:\ProgramData\visTABLE\models\
.
Further user libraries can be stored in the network. Users require read and write permissions for the folders of these libraries. The access rights control which users/user groups are granted access to the folders.
File actions in Windows®
It is not possible to manipulate visTABLE® libraries directly in the file system. To realize such actions, use exclusively visTABLE® Object Manager so as to ensure correct 3D representation of layouts. It is possible to move the storage locations of Shared User Libraries (in their entirety). If you intend to move a shared user library, first contact the support department.
Things to know about the VTLX format (so-called layouts)
VTLX is the format of Layout Documents. It comprises the geometric mapping of the 2D factory layout and the corresponding movement data. 3D data of the objects contained in the 2D layout are not stored in the VTLX format, but remain in the model library. The Layout Document comprises only references to the model library. If such a reference points to a storage location which does not exist or is not known to the system, a transparent, blue cuboid with the dimensions of the model is displayed at the appropriate place in the 3D View of visTABLE®.
Compatibility with files in the VTL format
Version 3 uses a new VTLX file format (see above). Layout files stored with an older version have the VTL extension. Such files are automatically converted when opened and subsequently always stored in the VTLX format. This format is much more compact. To be able to open (and convert) VTL files, Microsoft Office Visio must be installed on your computer. Microsoft Office Visio is not necessary for files already converted into the new VTLX format. Layout files with the VTLX extension cannot be opened in older versions of visTABLE®touch.
Display adapter
If visTABLE®touch is operated on a system with more than one display adapter, visTABLE®touch should be added to the list of applications that can be executed thanks to the display adapter with higher performance. Use the appropriate tool of NVIDIA or AMD to configure the executables vistable.exe
, 3dc.exe
and objectmanager.exe
in your installation directory.
Features provided by a Windows N version
To be able to record a video of a fly-through in the 3D view, it is imperative to install the appropriate media feature pack for Windows N versions, such as
Upgrade information for visTABLE®touch, version 2.7
visTABLE®logix is no longer available as a separate component. Therefore, it is also no longer provided as a link in the visTABLE® program group. To be able to edit processes by way of visTABLE®logix, the layout must be opened and the appropriate entry selected in the task area (on the right).
Upgrade information for visTABLE®touch, version 2.5 or earlier
visTABLE® model libraries, version 2.5 (or earlier), comprise the subfolders /obj and /lib of the visTABLE® model folder. The default directory is C:\ProgramData\visTABLE\
. It was, however, also possible to configure a network drive for the visTABLE® model folder.
The specified subfolders have no longer been managed by the object manager as of version 2.6.x. If wish wish to upgrade your product directly from version 2.5 or earlier to version 3, contact the support department.
Notes for using catalog and model files
Files in the formats * .vtc and * .vtm that were generated in a version older than 3.0 can only be imported by the Object Manager if Microsoft Office Visio is also installed on this system. It should also be noted that older files in the formats * .vtc and * .vtm must first be imported using the Object Manager of version 2.7 and then exported again in order to be imported in version 3.0 of visTABLE®touch.
Files in the formats * .vtc and * .vtm that were created by the ObjectManager for a visTABLE®touch version 3.0 or higher cannot be imported in an older version.
